This allows you to play the device similar to an actual instrument instead of having to manually return a slider or knob back to zero. When controlling volume swells (or vibrato amount or whatever) I want to be able to put physical effort into increasing the parameter, then control the parameter coming back down by relaxing my muscles and controlling how fast the device returns to a resting state. I loved the idea of having a midi controller that would "push back" so to speak. Resolution of data not calibrated to degree of motion: I honestly only found pressing it forward or backward useful for my production methods, but that's just me. The paddle senses 4 degrees of motion: pushed down at the front, pressed down at the back, and pulled to each side. Unfortunately, the paddle must be physically moved.

Watching the videos talking about sliding and touching, I thought the top of the device was going to be touch sensitive meaning I could slide my finger across it and send midi data to my computer. Unfortunately it doesn't really perform as expected. That's where the usefulness for me stopped. The Touché seems to be pretty solid and looks attractive while on the desk. It's an interesting and novel piece of kit and I'm sure it's useful to tons of people out there, but these critiques may be useful if you're someone like me. This device didn't work like I thought it would. I will post again if I find the useful tech detail about this. I'm not that knowledgeable about the jack to din midi adaptors but I think there are only a couple of different types, so it shouldnt be that hard to find ones that work with the Touche. So you cant plug something cheap and simple into the USB B port on the Touche that turns it into midi - to do that you would need a device that acted as a midi host itself, and those arent dirt cheap, they are not the sort of thing that would ship with a product that already has midi ports. And the USB midi adaptor bit doesnt sound right at all - the Touche is a USB device, not a USB host. Admittedly I didnt buy mine when they were very first released, but by the time I did they certainly came with midi adaptors. is that true? No groundloop adapter as well.Ĭos I cant find a place where to order the needed midi breakout cables and ground loop adapter anywhere?Hmm dunno about that, doesnt sound quite right. But apparently in the beginning they were sold without the midi breakout cables and with just a USB to Midi adapter.
